Starlink Off-Grid Power Consumption Calculator
Starlink’s published bands are AC-wall averages. This planner uses conservative DC-side watts: Mini about 15 W idle / 25 W active (no snow heater), Standard about 45/75 W with extra melt load, Performance much higher. Measure your kit if you can — firmware and weather move the numbers.

Engineering methodology
Daily watt-hours = idle W × idle hours + active W × active hours + snow-melt W × snow hours, with idle hours = 24 − active − snow. Average watts = daily Wh ÷ 24. Daily amp-hours = daily Wh ÷ battery volts (nameplate, no DoD). Planning watts: Mini about 15 W idle / 25 W active (no snow heater); Standard about 45/75 W with extra melt; Performance higher. These are conservative DC-side planning numbers, not a Starlink specification.
Frequently asked questions
How many amp-hours per day does Starlink use on 12 V?
Ah = Wh ÷ V. A Standard dish at 75 W for 24 h is 1,800 Wh, or 150 Ah at 12 V nameplate (more rated Ah after DoD). Mini at 25 W for 24 h is 600 Wh, or 50 Ah at 12 V.
Does Starlink Mini have a snow-melt heater?
Mini has no faceplate heater in this model. Snow hours use the same 25 W active figure. Standard and Performance add extra melt watts (often tens of watts) when preheat or snow melt is on.
Why are these watts different from Starlink’s published 20–40 W Mini band?
Official bands are typically AC-wall averages including the power supply. Field Mini units often sit near 16–25 W after firmware updates. This planner uses conservative round numbers. Measure your kit; firmware and weather move draw.
